Christmas is coming, the Geese are getting fat...
Date: 13-12-11 from Giles

But rest assured, that is not all that is fattening up for our fantastic Christmas week. We are incredibly pleased to report the order books are bursting at the seams with even more orders than last year for our fantastic array of local birds and meats for your Christmas table; re-affirming your faith in our uncomprimising ethos of quality, locally reared produce at an affordable price with convenient, hassle free shopping - thank you.

Don't worry if you haven't placed your order yet - it's not too late...the Trevaskis team are on the case, from planning delivery schedules to taking orders. Orders are still flying in, with no shortages to report yet on any items - even your trend towards an affordable little duck for the table this year has not gone unnoticed. With orders up over 50% this year, we planned ahead and will have over 160 ducks to choose from alone!

Our Noble Christmas Trees have been rapidly heading out on your roof racks, front seats, back seats..anywhere! With another 100 in through today and tomorrow we should still have enough for even the latest among you...but be quick!

The best little Turkeys in town!

For those that have ordered, or not, a fantastic selection of some of the finest birds in the land await you next week. Whether it is a free range Banbury turkey, slow hand reared on the Padstow coast in traditional fashion for the last 50 years, or the decadence of a South Tofrey organic turkey or goose, as featured on Rick Steins Cornish Christmas last year, you will not be dissappionted.

We have worked with these suppliers for many years and have never been dissapointed. Each bird that is ordered will be carefully checked and weighed to correlate exactly with your  order. The unique and hassle free system we have for your turkey collection has proven itself year after year and has seen you coming back for an easy alternative to the Christmas queues that seem to ensue elsewhere...not to mention the bun fights!

Turkeys crowns can also be accomodated as well as the infamous kings roll, (crafted by my own hands!) for the decadent show-boaters amongst you; starting with a small bird such as a pheasant or grouse on the inside and culminating with a goose or turkey as the grande finale...3, 4, or 5 - bird rolls can be achieved for the ultimate boneless table birds to wow and feed the masses! I have to tell you about King's Rolls... it's my personal treat for the year; for Hannah and I our Christmas day is devoted to running the restaurant and kitchens for our 7 course banquet so I feel I need to make up for it with a little bit of decadence on Boxing Day with my family...that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

And of course we must not forget the rest of the meat ranges available, our South Devon breed beef has proved ever-popular for the table this year, with orders way in excess of last year; thankfully Pete been planning the absolute perfect stock from our trusted breeder and supplier, Stuart Ward from Grampound, for some time, thus ensuring ultimate perfection at Christmas.

Our own award winning, free-range British Lop pork joints, many of which have been curing throughout November and early December, are ready for your smoked, green gammon joints and bacon, with another great selection available for your homemade Christmas sausages and sausage meats. Another popular and time saving item this year; the trimmings pack for 4, 6 or 8 people have hit the order books with force and will save all of us some time and hassle in what will be a busy week. Why not add this to your order, if you have not done so already?

When it comes to the deli, this very morning I have sat down with Vicky and scheduled the hundreds of kilos of cheese that will be despatched over the deli counters to your tables, from the luxury of Godminsters' organic cheddar, Cropwell Stilton and Cornish Blue, to the light and creamy St Endellion Brie.

To make things even easier we are also taking orders for any cheeses you may want us to put aside (although there will be plenty to try and buy in store next week).

Orders are flying in for our increasingly popular homemade pork pies, scotch eggs, sausage rolls, quiches, salad ranges - you can even order any of the famous desserts from the restaurant counter to make your Christmas run that little bit smoother.

The usual marquee will be erected on the patio absolutely brimming with the freshest fruits and vegetables available and, as our customers and our voice, I ask you to share the secret of our shopping experience with your closest friends to save them from the pain of supermarket fights we hear about, over the last Brussel Sprout on the counter!

Martin's fish counter will be awash with the fruits of the sea and again his order books are open for anything from crab meats to the finest local turbot - give him a call on 01209 714009.

And if you really want to miss any crowd at all then with opening hours from 8am to 8pm the early or late shift is still pretty calm. The only exception to our hours is on the 24th where we aim to close at 4pm....who can blame us, after what is normally a couple of 4am shifts in the lead-up!

It is a wonderful time of year, full of festive cheer that we truly look forward to. It is so warming to see our loyal customers at such a festive time, you have been part of our story and supported us thoughout the year - we thank you and look forward to seeing you all next week and hope we can make your Christmas truly memorable....well for the foody part at least!!

You can order anything (almost) on 01209 714009 or butchery@trevaskisfarm.co.uk
